Xinjiang Tunhe Hetian Fruit Industry Co., Ltd., a company under the COFCO banner, has received organic food certification for four of the their high quality apricot jam varieties produced from mountain apricots for export and the raw material production base for the jams. This makes Tunhe the first enterprise in the country to produce and export organic apricot jam and the only enterprise in Xinjiang at present producing an organic food product for export.
The newly certified production base for the apricots used to make jam is located in a mountainous area that ranges in altitude from 2,000 to 4,000 meters above sea level. The production base covers an area of 5,600 mu and has an annual capacity of 3,800 tons of quality apricots, 1,350 tons of which can be used to make organic apricot jam. The jam is mainly exported to the EU, Russia and SE Asia.
